You take on the role of Blake, a cameraman who has joined his journalist wife Lynn on a helicopter ride into the deserts of Arizona, tracking the story of a mysterious murdered woman. Though apparently set in the same fictional universe as the first game, Outlast 2 has no obvious or direct ties to the original, and no knowledge of what happened last game is required. Call it sadistic, but if Outlast 2вЂ™s goal was to make me feel like I was going mad, it accomplished it. And yet, here, at the end of my time with it, I canвЂ™t help but feel like it is an extremely successful game precisely because it affected me as powerfully as it did. That rest was shortened by nightmares, naturally.ДЇor some readers, all of this preamble probably sounds bad, and while I was in the midst of playing Outlast 2 I often felt bad about it. Several times, I had to stop playing completely, at one point forcing myself to take a nap in order to calm down. I found myself screaming at my computer louder than usual, shaking with a mix of fear and anxiety.

Outlast 2 pushed much further than most other entries in the genre, though. I devote a lot of my time to scary books, films and games - including the original Outlast, released in 2013, a game that I found sufficiently frightening if not necessarily groundbreaking. Outlast 2 is set to release on Apfor PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.No game has ever fucked me up quite as badly as Outlast 2. Taking all of this into consideration, one can only hope Outlast 2 lives up to the hype as one of the most anticipated games of 2017 when it comes out next Tuesday. Several months back, Red Barrels Studio offered up a demo so as to let fans scare themselves out of their wits with a short fragment of the survival-horror title. Of course, rather than simply watching Outlast 2's contents, fans can actually get a hands-on experience of a brief bit of the title's offerings ahead of its launch next week for a more comprehensive understanding of its gameplay. For instance, not too long ago, Red Barrels Studio sanctioned the release of gameplay video containing 10 minutes of action from the title, showing some of Outlast 2's beginning, its horror elements, as well as its exploration and survival aspects. Should there be fans out there wondering whether or not Outlast 2 will be a day one purchase for them, there's plenty of footage on the Web to wade through in order to get a better idea as to what the game's all about. With Outlast 2's release date slated for next week, the developers at Red Barrels Studio have decided to give PC fans a heads up as far as what kind of components are needed to run the survival-horror title, as the company has now officially released the minimum and recommended specifications required to play the game on the platform.
